Web Design and Visual Presentation of an Istrian Holiday Home

Villa Horto is an Istrian holiday home with soul, surrounded by greenery and a sense of complete tranquility. The goal was to create a digital presence that doesn’t just showcase the space, but also conveys the feeling guests take with them. Through a personalized web design, a clear identity, and warm visual tones, I shaped an online experience that speaks the language of this home — simple, natural, and fully aligned with its surroundings.

Visual identity

The visual identity of Villa Horto was designed to convey the calm, warmth, and authenticity of the Istrian landscape — that distinctive sense of serenity felt the moment one steps onto the property. The inspiration came directly from the surroundings: olive groves, stone, earth, and the soft Istrian light that gives the rememberable gentle atmosphere.

The name Horto, meaning “garden”, became the core symbolism of the identity. A garden as a place of harmony, privacy, and natural rhythm is translated into the design through organic lines and an earthy color palette. The logo is minimalist in form, focused on natural shapes and refined simplicity, reflecting the intimate character of the holiday home. Every element of the visual identity is carefully balanced between rustic warmth and contemporary aesthetics.

The typography is clean and calming, with subtle serif details that emphasize the brand’s natural elegance. The color palette is rooted in tones of earth, olive, and sand, creating a sense of refuge and lightness. These visual cues evoke an atmosphere that resonates with guests seeking silence, authenticity, and a retreat from a fast-paced lifestyle.

All identity elements were designed to be flexible and functional across various contexts — from digital interfaces to printed materials. The logo and graphic elements maintain their recognizability in every application, while visual consistency reinforces the brand’s professional presence.

The visual identity of Villa Horto is not merely an aesthetic solution; it is an extension of the house itself, its spirit, and its ambiance. Through every visual detail, it conveys a sense of Istrian calm and connection to nature, creating an emotional bond with the guest from the very first touchpoint — whether through the website, photography, or promotional materials. With this identity, Villa Horto is clearly positioned as a boutique Istrian retreat for guests who value simplicity, nature, and refined comfort.

Verbal identity

The verbal identity of Villa Horto was shaped to convey a sense of calm, naturalness, and Istrian simplicity from the very first moment. The tone of communication is gentle, warm, and authentic — avoiding excessive descriptions and focusing instead on the experience of staying and the connection with nature. Each sentence guides guests into a slower rhythm, into the atmosphere of a homely, quiet, and protected space.

Through carefully chosen language, the communication highlights what Villa Horto truly is: an intimate retreat for those seeking a more peaceful, deeper form of rest. The narrative is light and unobtrusive, yet clear enough to express the brand’s core values — authenticity, simplicity, warmth, and closeness to nature.

This verbal identity is consistently applied across all descriptions, website content, and communication materials, creating a cohesive experience that guests feel even before they step into the villa itself.

Brand strategy

The brand strategy for Villa Horto is rooted in a deep understanding of the space, its location, and the experience the holiday home offers to its guests. Although it is a small and intimate property, the branding approach was developed with the same level of care as a boutique accommodation concept — with clear positioning, a defined value proposition, and a distinctive identity.

At the heart of the strategy lies the idea of a nature retreat — a place where the pace slows down and simplicity regains its value. Villa Horto is positioned as the ideal choice for guests who are not just looking for accommodation, but for a calm, authentic, and nature-immersed holiday in the heart of Istria. This includes a clearly defined target audience: travelers who appreciate privacy, silence, local character, and the feeling of a home away from home.

Through an analysis of the location, architecture, and natural surroundings, the brand’s key differentiators were identified: intimacy, an authentic Istrian atmosphere, the warmth of hospitality, and harmony between people and nature. These elements shaped both the visual and verbal identity, as well as the communication logic across all touchpoints — from the website to signage and promotional materials.

The strategy was designed to be long-term, sustainable, and easy to implement. Every communication element connects the guest with a sense of place through warm colors, simple language, calming visuals, and clear brand positioning. In this way, Villa Horto builds a recognizable identity that goes beyond functional information and enters the realm of experience and emotional value.

Holiday Home Website Design

The Villa Horto website was conceived as an extension of the real holiday home experience — calm, airy, and guided by emotion rather than information alone. The goal of the web design was to create a digital space that leads visitors through the story of the villa as intuitively as a host would guide them through the house and its surrounding garden.

The starting point was a clearly defined content structure. The information architecture was designed so that guests can quickly find everything that matters to them: a strong first impression, a sense of the space, key amenities, location details, and a clear path toward inquiry or booking. The homepage combines a powerful introductory photograph with concise, thoughtfully written text that immediately communicates the brand positioning: an intimate Istrian holiday home surrounded by nature.

The visual elements of the website are rooted in the previously defined visual identity — earthy tones, subtle contrasts, and generous use of white space give the site a sense of calm and clarity. Typography is refined and highly readable, optimized for a pleasant reading experience across all devices. Special emphasis was placed on photography: images are not merely illustrative, but the main carriers of atmosphere. Through carefully selected shots, visitors can feel the light, material textures, the garden, and the intimacy of the space.

The web design was developed according to mobile-first principles, as most holiday home guests search for and book accommodation via mobile devices. Navigation is simple and intuitive, buttons and CTAs are clearly visible, and essential information (capacity, amenities, location, contact) is accessible without unnecessary clicks. The website is technically optimized for fast loading, which is essential for both user experience and SEO performance.

Content was written to naturally support key search terms such as holiday home website design, Istrian holiday home web design, and Villa Horto holiday home, without artificial repetition. SEO is embedded into the structure itself — through headings, subheadings, meta descriptions, and image alt texts — ensuring strong search visibility while maintaining an elegant and natural tone of voice.

All sections — from the house description and amenities overview to location details and the contact form — are designed to guide the visitor toward one clear action: sending an inquiry or making a reservation. In this way, the Villa Horto website is not just a visually appealing presentation, but a functional, strategically designed tool for attracting ideal guests and strengthening the brand’s presence in the holiday home market.
